We chatted with Lamia Shivji (@lamourous_diary), a former lawyer turned into lifestyle tracker. She explores the world with a lens of self healing, passion, skincare, self care and adventure.
Amid the Covid-19 outbreak, there is a lot of uncertainty. The stress of the unknown can be replaced by the comfort of self love and self care. As people are asked to social distance, self isolate or quarantine, there may be more time to dive deeper into your wellness routine.
Self care is becoming an intrinsic part of modern living. Join the conversation.
How have you transitioned from law to lifestyle? What inspired the decision?
I have always been blogging and interested in fashion and lifestyle even when I was working as a lawyer. Once I moved to London a few years ago, I decided to make my passion my full-time occupation and I can't complain!
How do you create a daily wellness or self care routine?
My daily routine starts with a good 8 hours sleep. People underestimate sleep but it's essential to start a productive day. For me, I need a daily workout, meditation and body moisturising, as well as learning one new thing for the day. All these habits keep me sane.
What advice do you have on creating healthy habits?
Chose what works for you. Be attentive to your body and your soul. What works for others doesn't necessarily work for you. Most of all, be kind to yourself first.
What does self healing mean to you?
Self healing is a necessity. We can never move towards the right direction for us until we correct things within us.
What advice do you have for female entrepreneurs and aspiring leaders?
Your dreams might not look clear in your head right now, but keep holding on to them. Be open to alterations, additions and advice, and keep believing that you are right to dream and want to achieve those goals. One day you will see clearer than ever.
Ohana Wellness Festival was on International Women’s Day and we love to celebrate women around us. What female leaders inspire you? How do you support women around you?
My inspiration comes from everyone around me, those I look at on the street. I see these women every day – mothers, sisters, daughters and wives. They struggle, they fight, they build, and they are strong. They are the spine of our society.-my unconditional support goes to my family and my girlfriends before everything. But I am happy to say that my joy is supporting Wonder Foundation who helps and empowers women in UK and Africa by giving them education and allowing them to work and have some independence. I help through my channels and through my presence whenever I can and any way possible.
What wellness trends are you most excited about in 2020?
I discovered CBD few months ago and I am excited about that the science will take us when it comes to the uses of CBD.
What advice do you have to maintain clean, healthy skin in city life?
I make it my obligation to clean my skin from all impurities every single day before going to sleep. The body and the skin need to breathe. I moisturise a lot because of all the aggressive fumes and other things that the skin is exposed to during the day, and nightly moisturizing helps it heal. I protect my skin at all times.
What are some of your favorite skincare hacks?
I don't have a favorite hack I feel that they are all trends that come and go but never proved to be efficient. One thing I learned from my grandmother is soaking your skin with oils, any oils can be beneficial every other week.
