Skincare is self care. That means there are at least two opportunities per day for self care. Maybe washing your face once felt like a chore your parents forced you to do, but as an adult, your morning and evening routine can help define your self care ritual. 

Ohana believes in mindful skincare, so here are a few of our favourite ways to turn a time consuming skincare routine into an opportunity for gratitude, self-reflection and self-love. 

Carve out time for yourself in the here and now 

As the sun rises, the day begins with a trip to brush our pearly whites and cleanse our rested skin. As life begins to happen, and to-do lists fill our minds, it’s important to remember that self care cannot wait.

Notifications come and go. Meetings move things forward and traffic keeps us on pause.By the end of the day, ours beds are calling, and it’s time to put the mind at ease and doze off into a dream.

Self care must happen before and after everything else. Simple. 

Self care and skincare should have a designated time and space, and for Ohana, that means combining the two in the AM and PM. Taking time to focus on applying CBD skincare products makes relaxation and restoration a priority. While modern life moves at a superhuman pace, carving out time to silence stress and nourish skin is the ultimate way to embrace daily self-care.  

Treat it as a meditative process

A quick meditation may be all our minds and skin need. Standing tall with an open mind and open heart replaces the stereotypical cross-legged position, and being mindful and present helps to bring consciousness to the process of applying CBD skincare products.

Don’t be tempted to speed through cleansing, toning and moisturising. Close your eyes, treat your skincare routine as a meditation, and focus on every little sensation.

Take the opportunity to practice gratitude 

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, they say, so when you look in the mirror, take a moment to practice daily gratitude as you see yourself on a deeper level throughout your skincare routine. 

Research now shows that just a few weeks of identifying what you are grateful for can benefit your health and happiness, according to the  Harvard Health journal. 

It’s easy to see flaws in the skin, but it’s also easy to perceive these imperfections as beautiful. Blemishes are just the body’s way of ridding itself of toxins. A dull complexion is your body’s way of alerting you to necessary diet changes. The more you do this, the more you’ll enjoy your daily ritual. 

When applying your Ohana products, appreciate your skin’s ability to absorb the goodness in your CBD skincare. Focus on staying conscious while you apply, and recognise the wonders that CBD skincare provides for the body as a whole.

Whether you’re into meditation or not, doing this daily can help you unwind and recentre. It may even offer many of the benefits of meditation without having to set aside a large amount of time.
